Dimethyl Carbonate

This is a clear, flammable liquid also known as DMC. It can be prepared from catalytic oxidative carbonlylation of methanol with carbon monoxide and oxygen. This allows it to be considered a free reagent.

It is use to methylate anilines, phenois and carboxylic acids.
