OIL SPILL DISPERSANT
Dispersants are products used to clean and control crude oil or refined oil spills in the ocean. TURRACO BIODEGRADABLE OIL SPILL DISPERSANTS are special fluid chemicals that bond to the oil molecules and separate them from water molecules, thus breaking up the oil. The result is tiny oil droplets that can biodegrade more quickly than a mass of oil.
Oil Spill dispersant are one of several tools available to combat oil spills and are a necessary component of an effective response to large volume offshore spills when used appropriately. Its application, both surface and subsurface is a critical element in preventing significant oiling of sensitive shoreline habitats during an oil spill response. Dispersants are sprayed onto spills by specially equipped boats or planes.
All environments contain naturally occurring microbes that feed on and break down crude oil. Our biodegradable Oil Spill Dispersants aid biodegradation by forming tiny oil droplets, typically less the size of a period on this page (<100 microns), making them more available for microbial degradation. Wind, current, wave action, or other forms of turbulence helps this process. The increased surface area of these very small oil droplets makes the oil much easier for the petroleum-degrading microorganisms to consume.
When used appropriately, Turraco Oil Spill Dispersants can be an effective oil spill response strategy. They are capable of quickly removing significant quantities of oil from the sea surface by transferring it into the water column where it is broken down by natural processes. Significant environmental and economic benefits can be achieved, particularly when other at-sea response techniques are limited by weather conditions or the availability of resources.
