Soy Protein Isolates
Soy Isolates or soy protein isolates is a protein that is isolated from soybean. Soy protein isolate is a highly refined or purified form of soy protein with a minimum protein content of 90% on a moisture-free basis. It is made from soybean meal that has been dehulled and defatted.
It is a "complete protein" since it provides all of the essential amino acids for human nutrition. Soybean protein is essentially identical to that of other legume pulses, and is one of the least expensive sources of dietary protein.
Dehulled and defatted soybeans are processed into three kinds of high protein commercial products: soy flour, concentrates, and isolates. Recently, soy protein popularity has increased due to its use in health food products, and many countries allow health claims for foods rich in soy protein.
Soy protein is used in a variety of foods, such as salad dressings, soups, meat analogues, beverage powders, cheeses, nondairy creamer, frozen desserts, whipped topping, infant formulas, breads, breakfast cereals, pastas, and pet foods.
Soy protein is used for emulsification and texturizing. Specific applications include adhesives, asphalts, resins, cleaning materials, cosmetics, inks, leather, paints, paper coatings, pesticides/fungicides, plastics, polyesters, and textile fibres.
